Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang are the co-stars of an interactive exhibition
dedicated to Charles M. Schulz
Friday, October 6th, at 5pm at the “Spazio Incontri” of CRC Foundation (via Roma, 15) in Cuneo (Italy), CRC Innova and the Cuadri Cultural Association inaugurated “Charles M. Schulz, a life with Peanuts. An immersive exhibition about the work of the greatest cartoonist of the 20th Century”. The exhibition, curated by Federico Fiecconi and set up at the Spazio Innov@zione (via Roma, 17), offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about Schulz’s life and to immerse themselves in the world created by the cartoonist: the history, timeline and interesting facts are all told through objects, video walls and interactive applications. One section of the exhibition is dedicated to children so they can get to know Schulz’s characters in a playful and interactive way, through their famous phrases and drawings. The exhibition is free and open Tuesday to Friday from 3.30pm to 8pm and Saturday/Sunday from 9am to 1pm and 3pm to 8pm up to April 1 st , 2024. Guided tours for schools are planned in the mornings, by reservation at info@crcinnova.it. The exhibition has been produced by the Cuadri Cultural Association for CRC Innova, in association with The Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, California. Exhibition design and experience are curated by Centrica S.r.l. The project has been made with the collaboration of Peanuts Worldwide, LLC and Dall’Angelo Pictures, Normaal, and with Rai Kids, the event’s Media Partner. It has been realized thanks to the contribution of the CRC Foundation and the support of Generali, Acda, Giuggia Costruzioni, Gino, Sedamyl, Bottero, Tesi Square and with the patronage of the Region of Piemonte, the Province of Cuneo and the City of Cuneo.
The curator Federico Fiecconi, an expert in cartoons and animation, designed this immersive experience for CUADRI Cultural Association, starting from when he first met Schulz in the early 1980s at the artist’s studio at “One Snoopy Place”, Santa Rosa, California. “As a young reporter that interview with the world legend of comics, was like a pilgrimage and left a long-lasting impression on me,” says Federico Fiecconi. “I discovered a gentle genius who, day in day out, dreamed up and created poetry, in the form of words and drawings.” In the wake of that first meeting with Schulz, today the Cuneo exhibition aims to offer visitors the thrill of coming face to face with the man who is considered by many to be not only the greatest cartoonist of the 20th century, but also the legendary creator of the longest illustrated story ever told in the history of humanity. According to Fiecconi, “The 17,897 daily strips and Sunday pages that Schulz published from October 2, 1950 to February 13, 2000 are a tender and at times fierce form of self-analysis: the therapy of a cartoonist who remembered everything from childhood, exploring his relationships with the world, his loved ones and taking leaps of fancy. The title of the exhibition clearly describes the artist’s intimate identification with his own work”.
“The story of a shy provincial boy who overcame difficult beginnings to become the most widely published cartoonist in the world is an inspiration for young generations; the message being that you can achieve your goals and make your dreams come true with discipline and tenacity,” explains Andrea Borri, president of Cuadri. “This is an exhibition with international scope, thanks to the precious partnerships that have made it possible, including that of The Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, the official museum founded in California over twenty years ago to honor the creator of the Peanuts strip. Precisely for this reason, the contents of the exhibition are in English as well as Italian in order for the original work of the American Maestro to be appreciated, while making it understandable to the wider public”.
“The exhibition ‘Charles M. Schulz: A life with Peanuts‘ is an ideal follow-up to previous shows dedicated to other great American personalities who changed history: Robert Kennedy in 2018, and the homage to the 1969 moon landing the following year,” adds Michelangelo Pellegrino, president of CRC Innova. The Spazio Innov@zione is transformed into a spectacular ‘all-Peanuts‘ environment and, thanks to digital technology, offers the visitor a series of unique experiences and the opportunity to get to know the greatest master of Comic Art of all time”.
